About The Tutor
Robert Handsfield is a physicist, formerly with the U.S. Department of Energy, with over 20 years of educational experience in several STEM disciplines. He’s helped hundreds of students reach their academic goals and brings a unique experience and empathy for struggling students. He was initially a poor math student himself, but overcame a string of bad public school teachers, and rose from academic probation to the top of his class in physics at the University of Nevada.

In addition to building a career in experimental physics and working with a number of technology startups, Robert has tutored professionally at the Universities of Nevada and Arizona, Kaplan Test Preparation, Studygate, Tutors.com, and Revolution Prep LLC. He specializes in working with elite athletes and STEM students, students with math anxiety, students with head injuries, and ADD/ADHD students.

"Success in any subject depends on mastering a specific set of skills. Unfortunately, too many teachers overwhelm their students with information while expecting them to infer and master the skills completely on their own. The job of a professional tutor is to diagnose the student’s skill deficiencies, then design and implement a data-driven program to help them master those skills while bolstering their confidence and self assurance."
